okay!! we beat mother nature.... race #8 was at humberstone this past sunday. due to our love of ransomeville (wrecksomeville) we chose to skip fridays race. sunday started out a little shakey..it was looking like the rain was going to claim another race but it cleared up and turned into a great night. the SOS (southern ontario sprints)were the club in charge last night so we had to follow their rules..we finished the heat 2nd. but due to their handicapping we were started in 9th. the car was awesome. in the opening lap we made it to 3rd. but the caution came out..with this club they go back to the running order of the last completed lap when a caution comes out...this rule seemed to haunt us the whole race..i restarted back in the field and came back up again. as i passed the 2nd place car the caution came out..yup and again back i went. i passed for 2nd. one more time only to find a caution flag again. then for some unknown reason they put 4 lap cars between us and the leader.looking at a solid 3rd place finish until a lap car decided to do battle with us. this allowed the 4th place car to get under us..then as if this wasn,t bad enough the 30 extra caution laps bit me in the butt. the last 3 laps i was running out of fuel. last lap out of turn 4 out of fuel..i managed to glide to a 4th place finish.. all in all a good night..

well 9 and 10 are done and buried....man what a weekend. Friday and Saturday were at ohsweken.. it was a patriot vs. sod 2 day event...on friday we chose to change from our regular set up to a new one that worked awesome at humberstone. well we learned what set up NOT to use thats for sure...we missed the A main... then on to saturday...we went back to our regular set up and the car felt great..we were in a transfer position in the heat but on lap 8 heading for the checker flag we had a motor go soft.so i shut her down and parked it...MAN it sucks watching a race when you have a car in the pits.. the motor problem is minor but not sure if we will be back in time for friday at ohsweken speedway. if all goes well it will be there friday and humberstone on sunday.. later............

okay back on track.....race #11 was humberstone. with the motor repaired we were all set for a good night. as usual the weather was looking a little scary but cleared up and turned into a great night.. we started pole in the second heat and won the heat... that finish started me on the outside pole for the feature...with the changes we made to the car it was awesome...the track was burnt off big time due to the winds and all the racing. but we went green to checkers without even one caution.. at the end we were a straight away ahead off 2nd. place for our first win of the year.. too bad we didn't have the motor back in time for the friday race at ohsweken speedway....who knows could have been two wins this weekend... next up we are back to oshweken friday for the SOS race... later........

finally got race number 12 in.... i think humberstone paid off mother nature and got a race in...we started 2nd. from last and had made it to 3rd. a late race caution made for a weird restart when the leader stalled twice.. the 2nd time he collected the 2nd place car. why they weren,t put tail i,m still not sure..they did finally put the leader tail..i made a last lap challenge on the outside of the leader going into turn 3...bad idea....he slid up & collected me and almost wrecked me...i was lucky to keep it off the fence..sad part is i went from 2nd. to 4th recovering..i guess congrats goes to the #81 how ever it comes, a wins a win.... as for saturdays race at batavia,we let mother nature bluff us..with the for cast and a 2 hour wait at the border, we decided to stay home..and of course the rain cleared and the race went on.. later...

missed you at Batavia. Crossed around 4pm and it took 10 minutes in Buffalo and zero minutes coming back at Niagara Falls at 11pm (open customs booths-couldn't believe it). JM Friesen and Kevin Sharpe towed their sportsmen down after M'ville rained out but missed the heats due to Genny starting at 6pm. Both were able to start tail. The sportsmen were not originally even on the schedule and ran non points. The Breen Boys didn't show up either which was odd with them being top ten in points. Track was best I've seen in years. Sprinters were 3 seconds a lap (yes three seconds-not .3) faster than last year. Cobra could not keep his car from wheelstanding all night. We are having a debate if Tim Zack could win a Curly Howard look a like contest-your thoughts???

actually got race 13 in...dry and hot.. not a bad night of racing..started the heat last and finished 3rd.that got us to the redraw but didn,t draw well. started 11th and finished 6th. the track was very heavy and we had the car sat up too tight..the track didn't come to us until near the end of the race. we got real fast but way too late... it felt great to be back racing..hard to believe it,s been almost a month since the last race. next up we are back to oshweken speedway again this friday..sundays patriot race got rained out, but it sounds like a rain date is being planned.. later.....

I see the Patriot raindate for HUMBERSTONE is Sunday Sept 14, the day after the Nationals at Ohsweken. Sounds like it might be a little hard on equipment. Also, the 14th is Ohsweken's rain date. Don't know if this is a smart move by the Patriots or not. My bigest disappointment this season is that the rained out show at Merrittville was never rescheduled. Guess Peter B is not a sprint car fan as other tracks, i.e. Stateline, seemed to get rescheduled dates with no problems. Re Ohsweken being heavy, at least it was smooth. They gave the 358s a mine field to run thru two weeks ago. JMO
